St Anns Road, SW13 - Barnes

A Joyful Garden Full of Colour and Character

Set within an irregular footprint in Barnes, this garden has been reimagined as a vibrant, expressive outdoor space, one that balances structure with softness and celebrates colour, texture and personality.

The design responds directly to the geometry of the plot, using angled lines and layered planting to create rhythm and movement throughout the space. A series of defined yet fluid zones unfold across the garden, including a central seating area positioned against a striking Tobias feature wall,  anchoring the space while providing a warm, textural backdrop.

Planting is deliberately generous and immersive. A mix of Salvia, Helenium, Sedum and ornamental grasses creates a naturalistic, evolving scheme that delivers interest across the seasons, softening boundaries and bringing a sense of abundance.

Terracotta pots and sculptural elements introduce warmth and form, while a decorative mirror reflects light and planting, subtly expanding the sense of space. As evening falls, discreet lighting brings the garden to life in a more atmospheric way, highlighting key features and extending its usability.

Recently featured in House & Garden, this project captures a more playful, characterful approach to garden design - one that feels both considered and deeply personal.
